Moringa
Did you ever hear of Moringa? It’s saving lives around the World!
About a year ago I got an email about something called moringa. The email stated that moringa was a substance that had great success in fighting cancer. In recent studies, the moringa killed 97% of pancreatic cancer cells. Wow. I have a relative who died of pancreatic cancer and I knew that it was one of the least treatable and deadliest cancers to get. My dad had also been diagnosed with a different form of cancer and I was eager to do research about moringa. This is what I found.
Moringa is a tree that is native to Africa and India. It is literally the most nutritious tree found on earth. It is a powerhouse of nutrients. There are over 90 nutrients contained in its leaves as well as 46 antioxidants. It thrives in dry conditions and will grow as much as a foot a month!
I bought my dad some moringa teabags and a book to let him decide for himself if this tree was all that research was proving it to be. He bought some seeds and planted them at his house in Florida. He then discovered that moringa trees were being grown close by at a place called ECHO which stands for Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization. It is located in N. Fort Meyers, Fl. When my husband and I visited Florida last February we decided to visit ECHO.
It was a truly fascinating place. We went on a two hour walking tour where we not only learned about moringa trees but about what this organization was doing to teach different parts of the world how to plant food that would sustain them. They divided the acreage into different areas to mimic the growing conditions in those parts of the world. They would then use these models to teach how to grow nutritional plants to feed their people. We learned so much that day and also greatly appreciated the work this organization was doing to help mankind.
We were convinced that moringa was really a valuable resource for natural healing. Some of the health benefits in addition to fighting cancer are as follows: energy boost, detoxification, antibiotic, skin treatment, anti inflammatory, immune defense system, ulcers, blood pressure, diabetes, relaxation and sleep.
My dad bought moringa powder and started putting it on his food daily. I don’t mind the taste but I kind of feel like I’m one of my goats eating grass, so I prefer to take it in pill form! It is readily available to purchase online as well as in health food stores. Just make sure you are buying an organic moringa from a reputable company.
We learned that you could eat the leaves in salads or cook them like spinach or kale in a little bit of olive oil. My dad also likes the tea but once again I feel like it’s something my goats would enjoy! The more research I have done about moringa the more I am amazed at how beneficial it is. I will continue to take it knowing it is doing so much good for my health. The seeds my dad planted last year grew into trees that are now taller than his house. I tried planting seeds here in Michigan with the thought of over wintering the trees inside but I couldn’t get them to grow. Even outside during the summer they died. So I’m convinced they will only be productive in the right climate.
Moringa is truly an amazing superfood and a healthy supplement for all of us.
