Encouragement

Hang on!

EncouragementWe all need encouragement. Sometimes we are thrown curve balls that we simply can’t connect the bat to the ball and hit it out of the park. The Lord told us in His Word that there is a season for everything. We will have times of sorrow, but we will also have times of rejoicing. Of course, we only want the rejoicing, and to skip the sorrow. I used to say that useless phrase, ” I can’t do this anymore”. Lo and behold I realized at some point that no matter how much I confessed those words, I was still plugging along. The trials were hard and life was incredibly difficult but through it all there was an all seeing God who was helping me through.

I am dedicating this blog today to all who are going through heart breaking trials. The following quotes will hopefully lift your spirits and encourage you to press through those dark lonely hours!

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”

  • A diamond is merely a lump of coal that did well under pressure.
  • It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: “this, too, shall pass away”. Abraham Lincoln
  • Instruction does much, but encouragement, everything. Johann Wolfgang Von Gothe
  • When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.  Franklin D. Roosevelt
Sometimes it’s hard to tie that knot and hang on. I have a sign in my kitchen that says “pray hardest when it’s hardest to pray”. I love that. Sometimes when I feel as if my prayers are hitting the ceiling and I can’t even pray, I can only cry, I know the Lord is feeling my tears and the ache in my heart. He always makes a way.
