100 Percent Required
99 Percent Is Unacceptable
Many people have told me over the years that the reason they don’t want to be a Christian is because of all the fake believers. They see people who are faithful to go to church but cheat on their wives, lie to their bosses etc…they basically live a life of pretense. That life is not appealing to seek after.
I know raising children you battle this all the time. Your kids love to get away with everything they can. They tell you only part of the truth and it becomes a lie by omission of the rest of the story. Once that child really experiences the reality of a living God they become accountable to God. He sees everything we do and say and there is no pretense. You can pretend to be anything in front of your peers but God knows the very thoughts you are thinking.
My answer to these people who claim there are no real Christians, is that wherever there is a fake there has to be a genuine to pattern it after! They make counterfeit money by patterning it off of a real genuine dollar bill. They want it to be as close as possible to the real thing.
I know the Lord is requiring that we give 100 percent. He isn’t coming back for the counterfeit Christians who only believe part of His Word. He isn’t coming back for those who give 99 percent. It’s all or nothing. If He isn’t Lord of every part of your life, He isn’t Lord at all.
When we set out to accomplish something we shouldn’t be satisfied unless we give 100 percent. On the flip side when we pay someone to work for us we won’t be satisfied unless they give us 100 percent. Otherwise we will find someone who will. Thats exactly what God is looking for also.
I was reading some startling statistics that I want to share to prove my point.
This is what would happen if 99 percent was good enough:
2,000,000 documents would be lost by the IRS
12 babies would be given to the wrong parents everyday
291 pacemaker operations would not be performed correctly
20,000 drug prescriptions would be written incorrectly
114,500 mismatched shoes would be shipped
These are just some of the few examples. Just think, they are only 1 percent off! We all possess talents that God has given us and He expects us to maximize our potential 100 percent. He isn’t asking us to do things we can’t do but are we doing the things He has asked us to do?
I marvel at how intelligent people are! My brain surgeon studied many years to be able to perform the precise surgeries that he does. Believe me, I wanted him to give 100 percent the day of my surgery! God hasn’t called me to be a doctor but I want to give 100 percent at what He has called me to.
You might not have a calling to be a famous doctor or lawyer or a scientist. But just being faithful to the simple things He has asked us to do. To be a reflection of who He is! He is the genuine Lord Jesus who gave 100 precent on the cross. May we reflect His life to a world that is seeking for genuine Christians!
