This is a recipe from a dear friend of mine who has passed away. It is the best shortbread recipe I have ever made. We bake it for much less time than suggested.


Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 T shortening

Instructions

Add flour to butter, sugar and shortening,  1 cup at a time. Comes out like pie crust. Mix well with hands. Pat or mash onto jelly roll pan. Sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake for 45 min to an hour depending on how soft you want them. Cut them into squares while warm but let them cool before removing from pan.
